The GlenDronach Parliament 21 Year Old Aged in Oloroso & Pedro Ximénez Sherry Casks
First Look: “Gorgeous deep amber with dark fruit notes from the Pedro Ximénez.”
Nose: “Bold dried dark fruit, intense sherry aromas, and delicate wood.”
The dried fruit is bold and soars from the glass. It’s followed by an amazing Pedro Ximénez sherry note that is layered with delicate wood.
Palate: “Plentiful notes of sherry, yellow & red raisins, spice, dark chocolate, and sticky bun.”
The Oloroso and PX coat the palate. Layers of sun-soaked yellow and red raisins and light dark chocolate follow. The sticky bun and spice coat the back palate and bring a great balance to this 21 year old.
Finish: The finish is long, intense and pleasing.
Fair Trade: $160
Verdict: The Parliament 21 Year Old is quite good but, depending on your location, can get pricey. I paid $140, and I think that’s a good price considering the quality and depth of flavor. If sherry-aged whisky is your thing, you’ll want to pick this one up.
