The Macallan Fine Oak 10 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
First Look: “Light golden straw in color.”
Nose: “Light tropical fruit, honey, golden raisin, soft oak, and vanilla.”
At first, the nose pops with delicate tropical fruit and undertones of lush honey. After a few minutes in the glass, golden raisin, vanilla and oak come together to round out the supple and complex nose.
Palate: “Creamy malt, sweet honey, vanilla, light cinnamon, rich fruit, a touch of banana candy, and soft marzipan.”
The palate showcases creamy malt, sweet honey and a palate-coating vanilla. The mid palate is kissed with light cinnamon and fruit, while banana candy and marzipan frame the soft and complex palate.
Finish: The finish is soft and lightly honeyed with a touch of vanilla and caramel.
Fair Trade: $45
Verdict: Overall, this is a fantastic whisky for the money and a steal at $37. The Macallan Fine Oak 10-year-old delivers more flavor and richness than whiskies twice the price. If you have not tried this single malt, you should put it on your short list because it is truly an amazing value.
