The Arran Malt 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
First Look: “Light golden straw color.”
Nose: “Soft vanilla, toffee, lemon zest, summer melon, a touch of sawdust, and sweet barley.”
Soft vanilla and sweet barley commingle for a fine first impression. Sawdust and lemon zest come together and develop into lively summer melon with toffee to round out the nose.
Palate: “Creamy oaky vanilla, toffee, soft stone fruit, sweet cinnamon sugar, citrus, and a touch of cocoa.”
Creamy oaky vanilla merges with toffee for an amazing entry. Sweet cinnamon sugar layers the palate with citrus while stone fruit frames the tongue with a hint of cocoa.
Finish: The finish is long, creamy and extremely pleasing.
Fair Trade: $45
Verdict: This 10-year-old is something to get excited about, especially considering you can find it in the $38–$45 range. The complex nose and palate blend in perfect harmony to create drinking bliss. This is everything I expected and more. It’s wonderful. Hats off to the folk at Isle of Arran Distillers for a job well done.
