The Glenrothes 1998 Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
First Look: “Ultra light gold with a slight clear hue.”
Nose: “Butterscotch, ripe fruit, light citrus zest, vanilla, and undertones of cocoa.”
Butterscotch hits first before the fruit takes center stage. Citrus mingles with vanilla to create complex aromas. Cocoa rounds out the delicate nose.
Palate: “Immediate burst of fruit, sweet vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, a bit of spice and butterscotch.”
Fruit coats the palate, vanilla layers it while bittersweet chocolate takes it to its rich full flavor. Spice and butterscotch meld together for a full round taste in this elegant whisky.
Finish: The finish is light, creamy and smooth with a touch of spice lingering.
Fair Trade: $70
Verdict: Depending on your location, you should be able to find The Glenrothes 1998 Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky for $60-$75. I picked this one up for $60 and I’d do it again. However, I don’t think it warrants the $75 tag. Make sure you price shop this one.
