Maker's Mark—Maker's 46 Bourbon Whisky
First Look: “Dark golden in color with a nice copper tint.”
Nose: “Sweet oak, brown sugar caramel, vanilla, candy corn, and white pepper.”
Sweet oak and brown sugar caramel jump from the glass. After a few minutes, vanilla and candy corn emerge with light white pepper undertones.
Palate: “Caramel, deep vanilla, cinnamon candy, sweet corn, and toasty oak.”
The entry is round and creamy; at first, showcasing caramel, vanilla, and a surprising hit of cinnamon candy. The mid palate is layered with creamy sweet corn and framed with toasty oak.
Finish: The finish is long and spicy with a touch of caramel and vanilla.
Fair Trade: $45
Verdict: The Maker’s 46 is a good addition to the Maker’s Mark line and is great for a barrel-finished bourbon coming in at under $40. I look forward to getting my hands on the Cask Strength version.
